Dear BTO Supporter

Over one thousand people have sent us information about their House Martins. If you were hoping to get involved, I am sorry to say that you are now too late. We have closed the survey so that we can analyse the data in time to report back to the BBC Radio 4 'World on the Move' team.

We are producing an on-line newsletter with the results, lots of interesting information and stories. This will be made available to coincide with transmission of the summary of your reports on Radio 4.

Although some House Martins are still nesting, others will now be on their way out of the country (and who can blame them after this summer?). They may well be gathering on local telegraph wires, or roosting in nests. Young birds can be seen making trial flights up to the entrance of nests, under the eaves of houses, and there may even still be some birds building nests. It is a confusing time of year!

We are grateful to everyone who has helped with the House Martin Survey.
